We are a budding community in Cardiff excited about nurturing the conditions for a thriving childhood (and future), where children are empowered to participate fully in their own lives, and they and their families are nurtured in good relationship. We value self-direction and consent intertwined with attunement and connection to ourselves and others (we call this “consent-in-connection”), in a playful, ambitious and supportive context. We are intentional about meaningful and effective communication, we enjoy the satisfaction of good work, we seek purpose and what is good, and we approach everything (especially serious matters) with a sense of deep playfulness!
We are neurodivergence-friendly. We care for kids and for their special adults, resourcing us all to show up for ourselves and each other – practically, emotionally and on a nervous-system level. We welcome each other just as we are, and offer support as we unfurl. We want to be both a resting place and a springboard.
We know many people are longing for community. We want to provide a minimum foundation that honours our individual integrity/autonomy/wholeness whilst in relationship with others: helping each other to understand, and speak up for, ourselves; to trust each other and receive what is shared; to find the third solution that meets everyone’s needs; and to value our connection and work to support it and each other.
This is our community and our work! We are excited to see what we can build together, collaboratively, and we are committed to figuring everything out, with a trust in our okayness, as the community develops.
Practically, at the moment, we are building a bold home education crew; gatherings for the wider community; and a community network for home ed organisers in South Wales.
